Writer's Block: B.Y.O.B. Holidays

Most of my family celebrates Christmas, but since my son's father is Jewish, my son and I celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah so that he is introduced to both cultures, can create his own traditions and make his own religious decisions when he is older.

It is fun to celebrate both holidays, even though it may not be religiously correct. I guess you can say we get the best of both worlds during this time of year!
Which December holidays do you celebrate, and why? One random answer will win a $50 Amazon gift card. [Details here]

Birth Story...finally

So here is the birth story that I promised everyone....I was put on bedrest on Tuesday Jan. 30th for swelling and high levels of protein in my urine sample and went back in for my follow-up appt on Monday Feb 5th the levels of protein had not gone down and neither had the swelling so the doctor decided she wanted to admit me to the hospital for observation for 24 hours and see what was going on soI go home and pack an overnight bag and head to the hospital...I get admitted around 11am and they put me on the mother and baby recovery floor so they could keep an eye on me. By 3pm I was on the labor and delivery floor because my blood pressure had gone up at 189/110 and they were concerned I would have a stoke or seizures. They began an IV drip of magnesium to get my blood pressure down but it wasnt working as well as they would had liked so my doctor came in and told me we would have to do deliever by c-section at 9:30 the next morning. I cried and I was so worried about my baby but they assured me that this was the only way to save my life because if they didn't deliever soon my liver would begin to shut down and I would most likely have a stroke. I got no sleep that night because I was so nervous and they kept coming in the check everything out. Well at 9:30 tuesday morning they wheeled me in for the surgery and they tried to give me the spinal but after 6 attempts to get it to work they decided to put me under general anethesia. They said they had trouble with the spinal because I was so swollen. Well I woke up shortly after in the recovery room to be told that my baby was doing fantastic! He came out screaming and kicking and was breathing completly on his own! He weighed 3lbs 1oz and was 15.5 inches long. !
